Healing begins when we take back power over our mental health.
We are a faith-based mental health ministry offering a biblical alternative resource to anyone seeking self-advocating support.
The SELF, INC. Life Program is a faith-based, non-clinical system designed to enhance and integrate with existing mental health recovery programs. The Handbook and Application were created by Athena Kabylafkas, whose lived experience with a mental health condition shaped both the purpose and the heart of this work.
From Striving to Thriving
Athena's journey moved from striving, to surviving, and ultimately to thriving. After years of searching for relief with limited success, she made the courageous decision to chart a new path — one rooted in self-knowledge, self-compassion, and self-advocacy. This shift led her to study mental health more deeply, exploring sustainable and alternative approaches to recovery.
Through her research, reflection, and personal healing process, one truth became increasingly clear: every step pointed her toward her belief in a power greater than herself — God.
That conviction became the foundation of SELF, INC. — a program built not in theory, but in the lived reality of finding a way forward.

Why Athena Built This
I didn't find healing by waiting for someone else to hand it to me. I found it by taking back the power I already had — and by finally admitting I couldn't do it without God.
Athena's story isn't a theory she read about. It's the path she walked, from a place of struggling to find relief, to building something that could help others find their own way through.
